Hydraulic Rescue The Hydrapack (HP2) is a skid mounted hydraulic power source and/or electric generator. Although it was originally designed to provide power for hydraulic tools and/or electric tools, we've recently made some changes that will allow it to function as a "hydraulic rescue" unit, should a crane or manlift get stuck up in the air. The design changes now allow the unit to use a separate, independent oil supply. It basically acts as an "artificial heart" for your hydraulic system, should it fail. MHE developed this unit in cooperation with the NYC Dept. of Sanitation, for use as a hydraulic rescue unit for their collection trucks. They needed units small enough to be transportable in a pickup, yet powerful enough to operate the hydraulic systems on these trucks. Additionally, Sanitation decided upon the HP2 because it offers both hydraulic AND electric power. If the power goes out, they use the electric generator to power lights and tools. NYC is understandably concerned about having backup power after the blackout of August, 2003.  |
