Independence, MO: Who says you can't teach an old truck new tricks?
A new HIPPO 4543P for an old City of Independence
Truck
This would have been the perfect before and after, "Extreme-Makeover"
picture project, only we didn't think of taking any "before" pictures
until "after" it was too late. So, you'll just have to take our word
when we tell you that this truck looks (and more importantly, performs)
FAR better now than it did before!
This is a 1997 International that's been a good truck for the City,
and still has better days ahead of it. So when their "powerpack" (and
we use that term very loosely) gave up the ghost, the City asked us
if we could retrofit their old truck with a new powerpack. We could,
and we did!

Performance Capabilities of HIPPO 4543P
- 185cfm air
- 6,000 Watts electric
- Tool Circuit #1: up to 15-gpm hydraulic tool circuit
- Tool Circuit #1: up to 30-gpm hydraulic tool circuit
- Ability to operate the IMT 2015, fully-hydraulic crane
- Ability to operate any three functions simultaneously, for continuous duty use
It's a true, "3-N-1" powerpack that can operate ANY three power functions
(air, electric, hydraulic tool & hydraulic crane) at the same time,
for continuous duty. The crane is "live" all the time, so they don't
even have to worry about that; just hook up the pendant and they're
good-to-go.
They can hook up hydraulic tools to the QD's built right
into the powerpack, or on the hydraulic hose-reel. They can hook up
air tools (like jackhammers) to the powerpack, or again, directly
to the hose reel. We were able to build them a custom hose-reel rack
between the body and the powerpack that enabled them to pull both
hose reels through an opening only big enough for one hose reel. Look
closely at the picture and you'll be able to see how we did it.
