Onsite Demo with Atmos Energy
Mobile Hydraulic Equipment just completed a mutually beneficial, on-site, working demonstration with Atmos Energy, in Butler, MO.
The crew we talked to had never used any hydraulic tools, so we volunteered to come down, and demonstrate them in "real world" conditions. The mission was to install a 2.0" PE line (for Natural Gas) into the existing 4.0" cast-iron pipe, and to replace the service lines from the cast-iron to the meters. Sections of the sidewalk above each service line needed to be cut out, so we brought our hydraulic cut-off saw.
All tools were powered with (primarily) our model# 2042P. We also brought our 6033P (just in case) but we didn't end up needing it. The 2042P provided plenty of power to get the job done.

Finishing the cutout
At one point, we had a little "race" between the hydraulic cut-off saw, and the gas-engine powered "Quickie Saw". The hydraulic cut-off saw was much faster! Almost a minute per foot faster than the gas saw! Furthermore, it was quiter, lighter (easier to carry), and there was very little concrete dust produced, as the water for the saw helped keep the dust to a minimum.
Additionally, once the cutting was done, the cutout had to be broken up with jackhammers, so we could get down to the service line. We brought along our 90lb hydraulic jackhammer for this. Atmos was able to use their pneumatic breaker side by side with the hydraulic breaker, and the overwhelming consensus was, the hydraulic hammer hit a LOT harder than the air, and it was a lot quieter as well.
Service line successfully exposed!
