HIPPO at Baltimore Heavy Rail

This is one serious truck!

Apparently, the folks at MTA wanted a truck they could do just about anything with, so this one ought to make them very happy!

MTA wanted everything but the kitchen sink!

This truck features an impressive number components & capabilities:
  • HIPPO 6033P, integrated multipower pack
  • Hydraulic Power: Three (3) hydraulic tool circuits
  • Electric Power: 7500 Watts, hydraulic-driven welder/generator
  • Pneumatic Power: 185cfm, hydraulic-driven, rotary-screw air compressor
  • Welding: 240amps DC welding (Fabco, Hydro-Arc 6000)
  • DMF, 1630 model undercab Railgear
  • Eaton model AT1202RT-2, Reversing Transmission
  • Extremely heavy-duty, custom-made Dakota body with 2.0" thick, Oak flooring
  • Six (6!) Hannay, spring-retractable hose reels for air, Oxy/Acetylene, welding & grounding leads, and hydraulic hose
  • Lanescan, collision avoidance mirrors
  • Palfinger model PK9501D, articulating knuckleboom crane with outriggers
  • TST "Rail TeK" system with backup camera (for driving in reverse)
  • Nine (9) different hydraulic tools, including: 45lb hydraulic breaker, dewatering pump, trash-pump, impact wrench, chain-saw, drill, grinder, pruner & pole-saw
  • Underbody worklights
  • 25-Ton and 50-Ton hydraulic jacks
  • Complicated Hydraulic System: Crane: 8gpm @ 4350psi; Railgear: 5-7gpm 2500psi, Tool circuits: up to 60-gpm @ 2000psi. Although all three hydraulic systems required different flow and pressures to operate, MHE was able to integrate all three systems into a single pump and PTO!

The chassis is a 42,000 GVWR, 2007 International 7400, with the DT570, 310HP diesel engine (950ft-lb torque!), and Allison 3000RDS series, automatic transmission with PTO provision. Chassis sold by Don Maher of Beltway International.

Dakota was able to custom-design a very nice access door, so MTA technicians could easily reach the 6033P for maintenance.
