Knoxville Utility Board puts (5) MPP2's into Service!
MHE recently shipped five (5) of our MPP2's to Knoxville, TN where O.G. Hughes finished the installation of the MPP2's, the bodies, hose reels, etc. and then delivered the finished trucks to Knoxville Utility Board.
As an independent agency of the City of Knoxville, KUB provides electric, gas, water, and wastewater services to more than 400,000 customers in Knoxville and parts of seven surrounding counties.
Power capabilities of this Vehicle (Equipped with MPP2 -- "Two-Function" Multipower Pack)
- Air Compressor: 185 CFM
- Hydraulic tool circuit with 0-15gpm
- Hydraulic tool circuit with 0-30gpm
- Hydraulic Generator: 9,000 Watts
The MPP2 will provide KUB work crews (Gas, Water, and Wastewater) with simultaneous, air (185cfm), electric, (9,000 Watts) and hydraulic power (2, fully adjustable tool circuits), for continuous duty use, from a single platform. This enables them to bring all the power they need to the worksite, and still maintain a small worksite “footprint”.
KUB is using the air capability to operate jackhammers and boring equipment, and they're using the electric to operate lights, fusion machines, etc.
Prior to incorporating the MPP2 into their fleet, they didn't use any hydraulic tools. Now that they have the ability to operate them, they plan to use (most likely) water pumps, impacts, breakers, and tamps.
