02/07/05 Paducah Water Takes Delivery of New Truck with Rebuilt Multipower Pack
MHE just finished installing a rebuilt & refurbished MPP2 on a 2005, International 4200, for Paducah Water, in Paducah, KY. This service truck is in their "Construction & Maintenance" division, and is used daily for things such as:
- Installation of new meter services
- Repair of main breaks
- Maintenance of valves and fire hydrants
- General maintenance
Barry Bolin, Distribution Superintendent, said "We're much more efficient using this truck. Our guys used to only bring what they thought they would need for the day, and if something else came up, they had to go back to the shop, which wasted time."
Before, Paducah Water used to bring a tow-behind air compressor, a gas powered, 5KW electric generator, and the old, stand-alone, "diaphragm-style" water pumps. They had very few hydraulic tools. The multipower pack changed all that. Today, Paducah Water uses more hydraulic tools than air, including hand-held valve turners, breakers, cut-off saws, and an 800gpm water pump! "People can't believe that little pump can move that much water!" Barry said.
Power capabilities of their MPP2 (For more info, click HERE)
- Air Compressor: 160 CFM
- Hydraulic tool circuit with 0-15gpm, fully adjustable flow
- Hydraulic tool circuit with 0-30gpm, fully adjustable flow
- Electric Generator: 9,000 Watts
Truck Specs:
- International 4200 SBA 4x2 (sold by Murray International)
- 20,940 GVWR
- Engine: VT365 -- 215HP, 540ft-lb Torque
- Transmission: Allison, 2200 RDS Series, Automatic
Look at all the equipment Paducah Water was bringing to the worksite *before* the multipower pack!
And compare it to their truck *after* the multipower pack. Their new truck provides MORE power than before, with far less equipment!
