HIPPO Heads West!
The Wyoming Department of Transportation recently took delivery of their first truck equipped with a HIPPO 6033P, a truck-mounted, 3-N-1, Multipower Pack.

This multipurpose truck is headed to District #4 (Sheridan, WY), where it will be used primarily by their bridge & guardrail crew. Among the numerous tasks this truck will be expected to perform are:
- Operating hydraulic auger, for drilling holes
- Operating pneumatic jackhammer
- Operating electric tools, such as lights
- Towing Backhoe on 30ft trailer
With THREE hydraulic tool circuits plus pneumatic and electric power the 6033P provides WY-DOT with an all purpose, one-stop-shop vehicle. The ability to carry all the tools and power for those tools, on one truck is very important to WY-DOT, as they frequently operate far from their home base and can’t afford to run back to the shop for additional equipment. They estimate that this one truck equipped with the 6033P, will allow them to allocate at least one truck, and up to TWO trucks for other jobsites. In other words, they will go from a 3-truck jobsite to a 1-truck jobsite…without sacrificing power or capability! That’s what doing more with less is all about!
Features of the HIPPO 6033P Multipower Pack
- Ability to utilize 3 different tools (air, electric, hydraulic) simultaneously in multiple combinations

(That's not a typo ~ There are (2) 0-15gpm tool circuits)
- Hydraulic tool circuit with 0-30gpm
- 185cfm Air Compressor
- Hydraulic Generator: 6,000 Watts
- PTO driven from the engine of the truck: Only one PTO, and one pump required
- Significantly reduces space and equipment needed on the job site enabling cleaner, safer, more efficient work areas
The WY-DOT chassis is one of the biggest, highest horsepower and multiple geared trucks we have put our unit on:
- Sterling LT9500
- 410 Horsepower Turbocharged Diesel Engine with 1550 ft-lbs of torque
- 13 speed transmission
- 56,000 pound GVW 16k front axle and 40k rear axle on Hendrickson Air Ride Suspension
- Cab to axle of 108” with 36” Back of Cab with clear frame rails, above and below frame rails
- West Coast Mirrors
- Engine (Jake) Brake
Upon leaving KC, the chassis headed to Ameri-Tech Equipment, in Evansville, WY, for installation of the custom body:
- 12ft custom Stake Body with underbody hoist and Heavy-Duty, ultra-long-lifespan, “Rumber” decking
- 96" wide
- Heavy Duty bulkhead
