01/03/06 KCMO Water Takes Delivery of Newest Multipower Truck
After extensive collaboration with the City, MHE recently delivered the newest addition to the KCMO Water Department. This is the first of four units for the City.
This is a significant change from their previous trucks. The new vehicle is the International 7400 (35,000 GVWR) with a 285HP, DT466 engine, and the Allison 3500RDSP, automatic transmission. Wheelbase is 182" with 114" CA
The Body is a custom Knapheide Line Body, with a full canopy cover, side entry door, and rear-access roll-up door.
This is a true, "MultiPower" vehicle, in line with MHE's unique, multipower niche in the marketplace. The truck is equipped with:
- Vanair, underdeck air compressor (185cfm),
- Dimensions Unlimited, 1800 Watt, pure-sine, DC-to-AC inverter, and
- (2) 9gpm hydraulic tool circuits.
All can be operated simultaneously, per the requirements of the City.
Other special features include:
- 400lb crane (power up and down) for loading and unloading heavy tools and equipment
- Three (3) internal, Hannay, spring-return hose reels (Two hydraulic reels, and one air reel), each with 50ft of hose
- Whilton model #1765, mechanics vise mounted on removable, adjustable sliding tube and mounting bracket
- Special Knapheide storage box for copper tubing
- "Battering Ram" style rear-end, with 1.0" thick steel plate between frame rails, and heavy duty, Premier Pintle Hook for towing trailer and backhoe.
- Customized, 3-level "key rack" with rugged, 3/8" thick PVC plastic tubing
- Special tint (tan) Line-X for unmatched protection of body floor
- Multiple strobes, arrow boards, spotlights, and LED's - The City wanted the truck "lit up like a Christmas Tree"!
- Customized (external) rack for heat exchangers located over cab
- Weatherproof wiring harness
MHE is currently in the process of building three more trucks for the City, identical to this one.
